Aulos

"Pipe would be the best translation of the Greek term aulòs"*, since all wind instruments are a pipe of some sort it is therefore a fitting name for wind band scores.

In these wind band scores there are no solos and everyone plays together. It is not necessary to have all the instruments playing, just one of each of the numbered parts. There are parts for the following instruments:-

1. Flute (1).
2. Clarinet 1 in Bb plays over the break (1).
3. Clarinet 2 in Bb plays chalumeau range only (2).
4. Alto Saxophone (3).
5. Tenor Saxophone (4).
6. Trumpet 1 in Bb plays up to written E5 (1).
7. Trumpet 2 in Bb plays up to written G4 (2).
8. Tenor Horn (3).
9. Baritone Horn (4).
10. Trombone (4).
11. Drum Kit (5).

School Band

The School Band scores are for a wind band with guitars and drums. Like the Jazz band scores below these scores may have solos in the parts indicated thus *, but there are parts are provided for lesser able students indicated thus #. There are parts for the following instruments:-

1. Flute*.
2. Clarinet 1 in Bb plays over the break*.
3. Clarinet 2 in Bb plays chalumeau range only#.
4. Alto Saxophone*.
5. Tenor Saxophone*.
6. Trumpet 1 in Bb plays up to written E5*.
7. Trumpet 2 in Bb plays up to written G4#.
8. Tenor Horn.
9. Baritone Horn.
10. Trombone.
11. Drum Kit.
12. Electric Guitar 1*.
13. Electric Guitar 2.
14. Bass Guitar.

Jazz Band

These do have solos and therefore, are more suitable for advanced students and may be heard only. Both scores and parts may be printed. There are parts for the following instruments:-

1. Clarinet 1 in Bb plays over the break.
2. Alto Saxophone.
3. Trumpet 1 in Bb plays up to written E5.
4. Trombone.
5. Drum Kit.
6. Electric Guitar (strummed).
7. Bass Guitar.

Latin Music

Unlike the Aulos music scores above, these do have solos for advanced students. There are parts for the following instruments:-

1. Flute.
2. Clarinet 1 in Bb plays over the break.
3. Clarinet 2 in Bb plays chalumeau range only.
4. Maracas or Castanets.
5. Bongos.
6. Drum Kit.
7. Electric Guitar.
8. Bass Guitar.
